Arturia Minifuse 4
As I began wading into the world of Loopy Pro and producing music on iOS, I realized my Scarlett 2i2 wasn't going to cut it if I wanted to run the Digitakt, Digitone Keys, guitar, and vocals simultaneously, I'd need at least 4 inputs.
Extra outputs seemed nice, too. Being able to hear the click in a separate mix is super handy.
Pros
- All inputs/outputs appear in iOS
- Knobs are tight and feel great to turn
- USB MIDI support allows 2-way communication between devices with a single cable.
- Includes MIDI DIN In and Out
- I/O is very configurable using the Minifuse Control Center app.
- For example, you can choose which inputs are monitored through which outputs.
- Easy to assign a metronome click to a specific output.
Cons
- USB Audio hosts can't be used on iOS
- iOS defaults to the most-recently-detected audio interface.
- Because the Minifuse boots up first, it's detected first
- If my Digitakt/Digitone are plugged in via USB Audio, they override the Minifuse.
- Inputs 3/4 are considerably quieter than 1/2.
- I'm not the only one who's noticed this.
- There's no Minifuse Control Center app for iOS.
- This requires me to plug into my computer to change configuration, including gain compensation for the Input 3/4 issue.
- No Direct Monitor switch
- You must use the Minifuse Control Center to configure the interface for direct monitoring.
