First Digitone Sketch

First Digitone Sketch

0:00 3:45

A long time friend and bandmate of mine, Mathias, recently moved back to town after over a decade away. We've been jamming and he introduced me to the Digitone. It didn't make sense to me at first; though we had collaborated on electronic music before we spent all of our time in Ableton, which had totally changed our approach to sketching song.

Ableton was still my tool of choice until recently. I had been aspiring to start a "one man band"-style electronic act but really didn't want to rely on a computer. So I bought a Line 6 Helix, I bought a synth, and eventually I bought a Digitakt for drums.

I dove into the Digitakt's workflow and felt very comfortable with the Elektron sequencer. My synth at the time was a Novation MiniNova, which was super cool but I realized the Digitone was so much more capable after jamming with Mathias again after I had a grasp on the Digitakt.

I finally found one thanks to a rad guy on Reddit who gave me a solid price. This is the first piece written entirely on it.

This is the first recording I'm posting on this site. It's not the best piece of music I've written lately. It's not my favorite. It's just the most recent.
